Wool in its purest expression
FADO is an ecological yarn, 100% natural, untreated, undyed, made entirely from wool of two emblematic Merino sheep breeds.
The Arles Merino, naturally off-white, raised in the Crau plain in Provence, and the black Merino from Portugal, naturally dark brown, raised in the Alentejo province in southern Portugal, but also established by Fonty and the Lainamac association within farms in Creuse.
Fado is a project aimed at developing the wool industry of the Massif Central while minimizing ecological impacts related to transportation.
The result is stunning: by varying the blends of the two fleeces, Fonty achieves colors ranging from off-white (660) to dark brown (664), passing through three light (661), medium (662), and rich (663) browns.
FADO is a carded yarn twisted in 3 strands, fluffy and soft, pleasant to the touch, which is knitted with size 5 needles. It is hand washed, preferably with organic soap, and laid flat to dry. Like all untreated natural yarns, it has the characteristic of softening with successive washes.
