Material
- 70 (80) gr of medium weight wool (Worsted) . We suggest CASA by weight, 100% Peruvian, medium (worsted), 1 gr/2 m
- One (1) 40 cm (16”) 3.5 mm (US 4) circular needle
- One (1) 4 mm (US 6) 40 cm (16”) circular needle
- Two (2) double-pointed needles 4 mm (US 6)
- One (1) yarn needle
- One (1) marker ring
Sample
19 sts x 28 rows for 10 cm x 10 cm with 4 mm needles (US 6) in broken rib (washed and dried). Check the sample and adjust the needle number if necessary.

Realization
Cast on 80 (88) stitches with 3.5mm (US 4) needles. Place the marker ring and join in the round, taking care not to twist the stitches.
row 1: Everything backwards.
row 2: Right side up.
Repeat rows 1 and 2 for a total of 9 rows, ending with row 1.
Change to 4 mm needles in broken rib as follows:
Row 1 and 2: * Knit 1, purl 1 * Repeat from * to * all the way around.
row 3: Right side up.
row 4: Everything backwards.
Repeat these 4 rows until the total height measures 15.5 (16.5) cm (from the first row of the hat), ending with row 2.
Then begin the decreases for the top of the hat:
row 1: * 1 mD, 1 SS, 15 (17) mD, 2 Tog * repeat 4 times in total = 72 (80) sts.
row 2: * 1 meV, 1 SSV, 13 (15) meV, 2 Tog * repeat 4 times in total = 64 (72) sts.
rows 3 and 4: * 1 meD, 1 meV * repeat from * to * all around.
row 5: * 1 mD, 1 SS, 11 (13) mD, 2 Tog * repeat 4 times in total = 56 (64) sts.
row 6: * 1 meV, 1 SSV, 9 (11) meV, 2 Tog * repeat 4 times in total = 48 (56) sts.
rows 7 and 8: * 1 meD, 1 meV * repeat from * to * all around.
row 9: * 1 mD, 1 SS, 7 (9) mD, 2 Tog * repeat 4 times in total = 40 (48) sts.
row 10: * 1 meV, 1 SSV, 5 (7) meV, 2 Tog * repeat 4 times in total = 32 (40) sts.
rows 11 and 12: * 1 meD, 1 meV * repeat from * to * all around.
row 13: * 1 mD, 1 SS, 3 (5) mD, 2 Tog * repeat 4 times in total = 24 (32) sts.
row 14: * 1 meV, 1 SSV, 1 (3) meV, 2 Tog * repeat 4 times in total = 16 (24) sts.
rows 15 and 16: * 1 meD, 1 meV * repeat from * to * all around.
rg 17 (1st size): Knit all stitches 2 by 2 = 8 sts.
Cut the thread about ten centimes from the knitting. Pass it through the 8 remaining stitches, tighten and tuck it inside the hat.
row 17 (2nd size): * 1 mD, 1 SS, 1 mD, 2 Tog * repeat 4 times = 16 sts.
row 18 (2nd size): Knit all sts 2 by 2 = 8 sts.
Finishes
Cut the yarn about ten centimeters from the knit. Pass it through the remaining 8 stitches, tighten and tuck it inside the hat.
