treasures of japan

If you've been to the store lately, you've probably heard about our new obsession, beaded shawls!

Over the past few weeks we have received our first orders from TOHO and Miyuki, the two manufacturers of Japanese glass beads best known in the world for the quality of their products. The beauty and delicacy of the pearls is reflected in their name, TOHO in Japanese meaning Oriental Treasure and Miyuki Silence de Neige Fonde.

But how to use these little treasures in knitting, you ask me?

I present to you Boo Knits. She is the creator of the most beautiful beaded shawls on Ravelry. Her shawls are so beautiful that we are knitting them in series.

Céline knitted the “OUT OF DARKNESS” in Haiku, the “SWEET DREAMS” in Lino, and the “CLOUD ILLUSIONS” in Marrakesh. I knitted a “SWEET DREAMS” in Pure Cashmere Lace from Hedgehog with TOHO beads.

Boo Knits is organizing a "MYSTERY KAL" , the pattern is a secret, the clues will be revealed from June 21 every three days. For now all we know is that the shawl will require 800 beads and two different lace yarns but in complementary tones . Enough to feed our addiction! Come join us this summer to knit lace over a glass of iced tea!

PS: Don't be put off by the amount of beads requested. Perler is extremely simple as you can see in this video:
